What began with a handful of men’s teams has evolved into a powerhouse event featuring over 47 teams across Senior Men’s, Women’s, and Junior divisions. Held at the world-class Wanderers Football Park in Sydney, the tournament now spans nine weeks of thrilling Saturday matchdays, drawing thousands of fans and livestream viewers.
Unity, Talent, and Culture on One Field
Since its founding in 1999, the Africa Cup NSW has grown from a grassroots initiative into one of New South Wales’ most vibrant sporting and cultural festivals. Inspired by the legendary Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), this annual tournament unites African-Australian communities through the universal language of football—and it’s back in 2025, bigger and bolder than ever.

Women’s Football Rising
n 2021, the tournament made history by launching its Women’s Division, thanks to the tireless advocacy of leaders like Petronila Ada. Six nations competed in the inaugural year, with Sierra Leone taking the crown. Since then, the women’s competition has grown in strength and visibility, inspiring a new generation of female athletes.

From Local Heroes to Professional Stars
The Africa Cup NSW has become a launchpad for emerging talent. One standout is Alusine Fofana, who rose through the ranks to join the Western Sydney Wanderers. The tournament continues to spotlight future stars and connect them with professional pathways.
